18. Detroit Lions – Green Bay Packers

The consistent annual division meetings between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers have led to the NFC North rivalry gaining status as an all-time great, even if parity is far from a reality.

The Packers lead the series with an impressive record of 97-67-7, and currently hold a 513-point advantage in point differential. They have won a total of four Super Bowl titles, compared to zero for Detroit. And since their division was renamed the NFC North prior to the 2002 season, Green Bay has won eight division titles to Detroit’s zero.

What lands the rivalry between the Packers and Lions among the greatest of all-time is rather simple, though; it is the longest-running rivalry in NFL history.

The two teams have met at least twice every year since 1932.

The series has produced a pair of playoff games, both occurring in the early to mid-1990s. The Packers won on both occasions, and although the second postseason meeting in December of 1994 was not as close as the 16-12 score would indicate, the matchup 11 months earlier that January would be a thriller.

During that game, Brett Favre connected with Sterling Sharpe for a last-minute touchdown pass, giving Green Bay a 28-24 comeback victory.
