25. Michael Irvin vs. Deion Sanders

Both Michael Irvin and Deion Sanders were among the most vocal and opinionated voices in the NFL during their playing careers, and a rivalry was sparked that dated back to their college days at Miami and Florida State.

This rivalry carried over to the NFL, culminating in a thrilling 1994 NFC Championship meeting that featured a controversial pass interference no-call while Sanders defended Irvin. The Cowboys lost the game to the San Fransisco 49ers, ending their quest for three consecutive Super Bowl titles.

Sanders would join the Cowboys the following year, and Dallas would win its third Super Bowl in four years.

Even long after their playing days, Sanders has managed to take shots at Irvin, even if it is not been done in a direct manner. He told the Dallas Morning News the following when asked about comparing current Cowboys star Dez Bryant to the volatile team cancer that was Terrell Owens.

"“Well, honestly, Mike [Michael Irvin] was 10-times worse than T.O. I mean, I love Mike and Mike was one of the fiercest competitors I’ve ever played against but Mike wanted the ball early, often, early and often; Mike walked off the field in practice when he didn’t get the darn ball thrown his way.”"

Irvin did not take exception to Sanders’ fairly accurate assessment, and the duo’s colorful personalities are largely to credit for their successful careers in television following their playing days.
