James Starks-Green Bay Packers (22.3%)

In week 6, James Starks was the star for the Packers taking advantage of a matchup that looked like a great one for his backfield-mate Eddie Lacy who was remarkably quiet.  Starks rushed ten times for 112 yards and a touchdown and added a five-yard touchdown catch.  He hadn’t found the end zone in the Packers’ earlier five games, and he only had one other 100+ yard effort which came when Lacy was injured in week 2.

It’s unclear what Starks’ role will be moving forward and owners of both Starks and Lacy will have to wait a week to find out.  Green Bay is on their bye this week before returning to take on the Broncos in a tough matchup in week 8.

Starks should definitely be picked up if you are a Eddie Lacy owner as an insurance policy in case he seizes the job full-time going forward.  I doubt that will happen, though, and expect Lacy to return as a workhorse after the bye week gives his ankle injury extra time to heal.

Coach Mike McCarthy did say the that Packers will ride the “hot hand” going forward, so if you can grab Starks, he could end up being a critical pickup if he gets extended play in a very effective Green Bay offense.  If you do decide to target Starks on the fantasy football waiver wire, just remember he won’t be any help this week on the Pack’s bye week.
