Week 6 Most Valuable Player

Cam Newton, QB Carolina Panthers

The numbers don’t stack up with some of the other prominent quarterbacks in the NFL this week, but Cam Newton was the epitome of “valuable” in leading his team to a wildly impressive road win.

Newton threw for “just” 269 yards in the 27-23 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, but his fourth quarter performance (on the road, no less) was what separated him from the rest of the league. The former number one overall pick completed 12 of his 15 pass attempts for 169 yards in the final period, and Newton connected with Greg Olsen for the game-winning touchdown as the clock neared triple zeroes.

Carolina completed four touchdown drives on the day in what was a hostile environment, and all four (!) of them were for 80 yards. In short, Cam Newton did absolutely everything to help his team win on this day, and when considering how wretched the cast of skill players is around him on a weekly basis, it is virtually a one-man show for the Panthers right now.

Did I mention that Carolina remains unbeaten? Cam Newton is pretty good.

Runner-up: Tom Brady, QB New England Patriots
