5 MLB free agents-to-be who have helped themselves this postseason
2. Colby Rasmus
Very few players have teased what they could possibly be than Rasmus, the former top 10 prospect and five tool outfielder whom has shown more flashes than consistency of the rare blend of tools he brings to the diamond.
But small sample size postseason stock revisions were built for players like Rasmus to take advantage of, and he did exactly that, making the most of the final days of his 2015 audition in Houston.
In six playoff games, Rasmus posted a full postseason’s worth of production it felt like. While the 29-year-old finished the regular season with just a mere .238/.314/.475 production split, but when Houston needed a booster shot the most, he came alive.
Starting with a mammoth home run in Yankee Stadium which propelled the Astros into postseason series play, Rasmus did not let off the gas. Overall, he hit .412 in 17 playoff at-bats, while launching four home runs and reaching base at a relentless .583 clip.
While his up and down past could still limit his potential in free agency, the fact that he flashed such awe-inspiring skills at the right time should put Rasmus in a much better position headed into 2016 than he left the regular season in this fall.
