Odds

The odds for the Hornets may have been somewhere in the middle of the pack if not for the injury to Kidd-Gilchrist. With MKG out, though, the odds aren’t pretty for Charlotte. According to the books at Bovada, the Hornets are currently listed at +25000, giving them some of the worst odds to win the title in the entire league. In fact, those odds are so astronomically high that the bookmakers are essentially inferring that the Hornets don’t even have a plausible chance at winning a championship this year.

At +10000, the odds given for the Hornets to emerge as Eastern Conference Champions aren’t much better, either. Again, those odds are some of the worst in the conference and mean that bookmakers are giving them a near zero percent chance of winning the conference when it’s all said and done. Even in the weak East, the Hornets are still looked at as bottom-feeders coming into this season.

The trend of bookmakers counting out the Hornets continues on when you look at the Southeast division. The Hornets are given +2500 odds to win the division in the 2015-16 season. While that’s another instance of a lack of faith from bookmakers, it’s not surprising considering where their other odds stand in relation to the rest of the division.
