Final Prediction

Some might say I’m off my rocker when it comes to the Detroit Pistons, but I’m incredibly high on this team coming into the 2015-16 NBA season. They certainly fit the mold of many Eastern Conference teams outside of the top-tier as a team whose possible record has an extremely high variation, but the pieces are there where you could imagine this being a playoff team.

Detroit brought in Stan Van Gundy, one of the smartest minds in the game, to run the front office and be the head coach of this team. While he’s been doing the best with what was dealt to him, this is the closest thing he’s had to a roster who could fit well into his system with a strong pick-and-roll game, a possibly dominant big man on the interior, and shooters spread out around the perimeter.

One thing that you can’t overlook, though, is that this team probably still has a major move to make leading up to the trade deadline. After locking up Reggie Jackson this summer, the possibility of Brandon Jennings being traded seems more likely than ever. If they are able to trade him for a valuable piece, this team could look even better suited to play under SVG.

Again, this is a team that’s a relatively unknown quantity after the departure of Greg Monroe, the addition of new pieces, and the reliance on progression of young players. That being said, I’m a believer in Van Gundy, in Drummond, in rookie Stanley Johnson, and in the fact that this team is going to shock people and be a playoff team in the Eastern Conference.

Predicted Record: 42-40
