Rishard Matthews-Miami Dolphins

In last week’s encouraging first game under new coach Dan Campbell, the Dolphins threw the ball less, but Matthews still got his share of work. The fourth-year player out of Nevada has put tighter a nice season so far and has emerged from a crowded Miami receiving corps as the team’s second WR with a clear path to targets from Ryan Tannehill.

Last week, Matthews led the team in receiving yards hauling in all six of his targets for 85 yards although he wasn’t able to get into the end zone.  He has six catches and at least 85 yards in three of his last four games, and he’s in a good matchup this week as the Dolphins host Houston.

Houston’s secondary has allowed least 150 receiving yards to opposing WR in each of their last four games and five WR touchdowns over the last three.  Matthews will have to fend off rookie DeVonte Parker and Kenny Stills for targets, but since he is clearly the #2 option in a solid passing game in a good matchup I like him as a WR3 this week. He’s available for a bargain 4,300 on DraftKings and an affordable 6,400 on FanDuel.  In season-long competitions, Matthews is on the waiver wire in 45% of ESPN leagues and is a nice depth addition as we head into some tricky bye weeks coming up.
