Nate Washington-Houston Texans

The Texans have been forced to throw the ball a ton this year which has definitely helped the emergence of DeAndre Hopkins as a go-to receiver in fantasy football.  I think Hopkins is the best WR in fantasy right now and he definitely draws a ton of attention from both opposing defenses and the Brian Hoyer/Ryan Mallet QB tandem that Houston has been forced to roll with.  Across the field, though, I think there is an opportunity to grab a cheap flier play as Nate Washington is expected to make his return this week after missing the last two weeks with a hamstring issue.

Washington played one game with Brian Hoyer as QB (mostly) in week 1 and finished with a season-high six catches for 105 yards on 11 targets.  He tailed off a bit in his next two games catching a total of seven passes for 105 yards on 17 targets.  The targets have been there for the 11th-year receiver, so I like him as one of the cheapest wide receiver sleepers out there for week 7.

While Washington is expected to return, Cecil Shorts III is still sidelined which should allow Washington to start across from Hopkins today against the Dolphins.  Miami showed last week that they can produce as a balanced offense which could lead to Houston again playing from behind.  If you decide to go with Washington, you’ll find him on the waiver wire in 95% of ESPN leagues, and in both DraftKings (3,000) and FanDuel (4,900) he’s a surprisingly affordable play at the bottom of the salary structure.
