Edison Volquez’s dad dies before son is set to pitch in Game 1 of World Series
On the day his son was set to pitch in Game 1 of the World Series, Royals pitcher Edison Volquez’s dad passed away today in the Dominican Republic.
Before Game 1 of the World Series begins between the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals begins in Kansas City, some sad news is being reported.
According to Marly Rivera of ESPN Deportes, sources are reporting that Edison Volquez’s father passed away today in the Dominican Republic.
It is absolutely shocking and tragic news on the day that Volquez was set to start game one of the World Series for the Royals at home as they try to protect their home field advantage against the Mets.
The timing of everything completely caught everyone off guard as Volquez was around 20 minutes or so from taking the mound for the Royals. Despite the sad news, Volquez will be taking the mound tonight for Kansas City, and will have everyone behind him in a trying time as he tries to put his best performance together regarding the circumstances.
Everyone’s thought’s need to be with Volquez and his family tonight. Hopefully he can put on the best performance possible and be able to triumph through these difficult times.
