Before the Kansas City Royals play host to the New York Mets in Game 1 of the World Series, Royals legend George Brett will throw out the first pitch.

Every world series has iconic moments, but more importantly iconic first pitches. Whether it’s a president or a former team legend throwing out the first pitch, it’s important to have the right person throw out the ceremonial pitch in Game 1 to set the tone for energy in the stadium.

With the Kansas City Royals at home for Game 1 of the World Series against the New York Mets, it’s only fitting they bring in a team legend to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

According to Bob Nightengale, Royals legend George Brett will be throwing out the first pitch before the game.

George Brett was on the Royals when they won their last World Series in 1985. The Hall-0f-Fame third baseman and 13-time All-Star, played a major role in making Kansas City a juggernaut in the 70’s and 80’s in baseball.

He’s ingrained in the culture of Kansas City and a local hero and one of the best to ever play the game. That’s why for Kansas City, there was no better choice when they had to make the call to the mound for the ceremonial first pitch this year.

The crowd in Kansas City was already going to be wild enough. Having George Brett throw out the first pitch will only make it a madhouse before the real game even begins.

The World Series is finally here.
