Worst moment in each NBA franchise’s history

Brooklyn Nets – The Death of Drazen Petrovic
While Drazen Petrovic was able to play five seasons in the NBA as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers and then New Jersey Nets, his career was cut short in tragic fashion. Petrovic was killed on June 7, 1993 as a result of an automobile accident in Germany. He was 28-years-old.
Petrovic was a budding star in the NBA, averaging 20.6 and 22.3 points per game in his final two seasons. He was also ahead of his time as a perimeter shooter, with a career three-point mark of 43.7%, including three different seasons with a 44% clip or higher. Because he did not have the college basketball background of someone like Len Bias, only an NBA diehard could appreciate just how good Petrovic was before his untimely passing, and long-time Nets fans continue to lament life in the organization without him.
While Drazen Petrovic never played basketball for the now Brooklyn Nets, his impact can be felt on the organization in a long-lasting way. He was one of the best international players in the history of the NBA, and it is unspeakably tragic to think that he was not able to further his game and his life past the age of 28. For the young fans among us, it would be a good idea to read up on Petrovic, and for the older folks, remembering his game is a pleasant homage of the highest order.
