How perfect of a narrative would it be for LeBron James to win his first NBA title in Cleveland against a team that can very easily be argued as his arch nemesis. The Spurs have had LeBron’s number in past NBA Finals, with The King winning just one of three showdowns against Tim Duncan and Gregg Popovich.

As fun as it would have been for the narrative to be LeBron winning his first NBA title with Cleveland in his first year back, it’s almost better to have him to it against the Spurs in his fourth overall meeting against the team in the Finals and the second while with Cleveland. It more completely brings things full circle in a way we will wax poetic about to our hearts content.

It’s going to be a helluva series too. Beyond the LeBron storyline, there’s the narrative about how many more title runs the Spurs have i them while Pop and Duncan are leading the charge. There’s so many rooting interests for casual basketball fans that anything less than this series will be disappointing. We don’t need a rematch of last season’s Finals, we need LeBron’s story to officially come as completely full circle as it possibly can.
