DraftKings fantasy football picks: week 8

High Priced Wide Receivers

Julio Jones (9,200): If you can afford any receiver this week, Jones is in a tasty matchup against the Bucs who are 27th in the league against opposing fantasy WR.  Last week against Tennessee, Jones was targeted a massive 17 times and he hauled in nine passes for 92 yards and a touchdown.  Even though Jones hasn’t gone over 100 yards since week 3, he’s drawing enough targets to be a top-shelf play in a great matchup this week.

DeAndre Hopkins (8,700): Hopkins had a quiet week last week, but he should be able to bounce back nicely against the Titans. He had only six catches for 50 yards against the Dolphins, but had four straight weeks of 0ver 100 yards before that game.  He is an absolute target monster and should continue to get plenty of passes thrown his way by Brian Hoyer. With Arian Foster out, Hopkins could become even more involved if that’s even possible.

Antonio Brown (7,800): Brown looks like he’ll get Big Ben back this week which makes him a top-tier receiver available at a reduced rate.  He did have a nice game last week with 124 yards after three straight games under 50 yards.  Last time he had Roethlisberger for a full game, though, Brown posted a sick nine-catch, 195-yard game with a touchdown against the 49ers.   If you want the best value in your expensive receiver purchase go with Brown who totaled 16 catches for 245 yards and a touchdown in two games last season against Sunday’s opponent Cincinnati.

Keenan Allen (7,700): Another great play in the mid 7,000’s is Keenan Allen who battled through a hip injury to catch nine passes for 89 yards against Oakland.  Allen has 30 points or more in three of his seven contests this season with over 17 in all but two of those games.  This week, he and the Chargers take on the Ravens who rank second-to-last in WR fantasy points allowed.

Randall Cobb (7,000): I get that its not a good matchup against Denver, but overlooking Cobb would be a mistake if you end up looking for a receiver lower than Allen and Brown.  He’s reportedly over his shoulder injury and fully healthy for the first time this season, and last I checked his quarterback is still Aaron Rodgers.  Rodgers does spread the ball around, but Cobb is his best receiver, so look for him to get plenty of targets on Sunday night.

Alshon Jeffery (6,400): The only receiver in the 6,000’s that I would trust based on his matchup and current form is Alshon Jeffery.  Jeffery made a strong return from a four-week absence hauling in eight catches for 147 yards and a touchdown against the Lions in week 6.  With Jay Cutler back and ready to throw the ball around and a bye week last week to get healthier, look for Jeffery to quickly climb back to the upper levels of the salary structure.  Like Brown, take advantage of his discount pricing while you can.
