After a disappointing start to the season, the San Diego Chargers are looking to cash in on three-time Pro Bowler, Eric Weddle, before Tuesday’s trade deadline.

According to Pro Football Talk, the San Diego Chargers could be set to trade their veteran safety, Eric Weddle. With the team playing to a 2-6 record after eight games, the Chargers are already said to be looking to the future.

The 30-year-old is currently in the final year of his three-year contract and had attempted to renegotiate a better deal before the season had started. He opted not to participate in the team’s voluntary offseason program, which did not go over well with head coach Mike McCoy.

He is earning $7.5 million a season, and could be set for a hefty raise next year considering he is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro.

San Diego is dead last in the AFC East, with just the Tennessee Titans sporting a worse record in the conference. While they narrowly lost to the Baltimore Ravens 29-26 on the weekend, it was still the Chargers’ fourth consecutive loss.

San Diego will be in action next on Sunday night when they host the Chicago Bears at Qualcomm Stadium, before a much-needed BYE week.
