Adam Gase, Bears Offensive Coordinator

Adam Gase has been the offensive coordinator for John Fox since 2013. Gase earned a promotion to quarterbacks coach with the Denver Broncos when Fox arrived in 2011. He then became offensive coordinator for the Broncos in 2013, the year the team won the AFC and went to the Super Bowl.

When the Broncos organization decided to cut ties with John Fox, Adam Gase followed his head coach to the Windy City to coach the Chicago Bears. Chicago is not a strong football team in 2015, but have still looked coherent on offense, even with their erratic quarterback Jay Cutler under center. Gase is a major reason the Bears aren’t the worst team in football at the midway point of 2015.

This past offseason was the first time Gase’s name was in the conversation for a head coaching gig, drawing interviews from several teams. From his work with both Peyton Manning in Denver and now Jay Cutler in Chicago, Adam Gase has shown that he can run a successful NFL offense.

In Gase’s offense, the quarterback typically resides in shotgun formation and tries to deliver the ball to a receiver in a rapid-fire manner. This sounds like the spread offense Marcus Mariota wonderfully orchestrated in Eugene with the Ducks. A quarterback/head coaching marriage between Mariota and Gase could help get the Titans out of the post-Vince Young funk.

The challenge in getting Adam Gase to come to Nashville would be to lure him away from John Fox. Fox is one of the few coaches to take two different organizations to the Super Bowl (Carolina and Denver), albeit his team didn’t win either. Adam Gase most definitely has to end up on the Tennessee Titans short list for potential Ken Whisenhunt replacements. He could become a front-runner in all honesty.
