5 Potential Replacements for Ken Whisenhunt
By John Buhler
Chuck Pagano, Indianapolis Colts Head Coach
Things are not splendid in Indianapolis in early November 2015. The Colts are 3-5 and hold a tiebreaker over the Houston Texans in the awful AFC South. In fact, the only wins the Colts have this season have come against their divisional foes. Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano’s seat is starting to get hot.
Many thought the Colts would get back to the AFC Championship Game again in 2015, but the front office has made some interesting personnel decisions to say the least: bringing in past-their-prime weapons on offense and starting players that aren’t yet ripe in crucial glue positions. Owner Jim Irsay is supposedly growing tired of Pagano’s inability to get the Colts to a Super Bowl. The pressure on Pagano is to some degree merited, but a bit unrealistic given who is on the 2015 Colts roster.
A first-round exit in the playoffs would certainly mean the end of the Chuck Pagano Era in Indy. However, would the Tennessee Titans consider bringing a head coach that is familiar with the division and can get to the playoffs annually?
Pagano would swap Andrew Luck for Marcus Mariota at quarterback and could potentially assert his dominance over the AFC South again, this time in Nashville. Relocating in the division seems unlikely, but the Titans organization may want to reach out and speak with Pagano should he become available on Black Monday.
The potential replacement for Ken Whisenhunt as head coach of the Tennessee Titans could end up being any one of these six guys. They could also choose someone who is a bit under the radar. Regardless, the Tennessee Titans have moved on from his ghastly 3-20 record as head coach. Things are only going to get better in Nashville, because the Ken Whisenhunt era in Nashville was a bad as it could get. At least the Titans have ample time to make their next hire and a promising young passer that could entice a coordinator or former head coach to the Music City.
