2. Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are in the worst division in the entire NFL, so it wouldn’t take much for them to dominate the AFC South and see post-season play. Even this year without a reliable quarterback, and even with a losing record, the team is in playoff contention.

Point is, if the Texans could make it into the playoffs, an experienced quarterback like Stafford could be the right person to push them through, especially if they face the Choke-in-the-Playoffs (CIP) Bengals en route to the conference championship.

As it is, if the Texans are the AFC North representative in the playoff picture, they will be absolutely steamrolled by their competition. The only games the 3-5 Texans have managed to win have been against absolutely horrible teams and members of their same crappy division: The Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Texans are one of the most frustrating teams to watch because they have several supremely talented players whose best efforts aren’t nearly enough to help their teams win meaningful victories. Quarterback is one of the teams biggest weak links at this point, and given the performance of promising college prospects so far this season, it is unlikely they will find a quarterback to turn their team around through the draft.

The team doesn’t have time to develop a new player and help a rookie transition into the NFL. Stafford is already there. Although he has had a rough season with the Lions, in a better system with a shot at post-season play, he may find the spark and drive to begin phase two of his career, a phase that could leverage his talent and help him play to his potential.

Matt Stafford is also from Dallas, Texas, so returning to his home state to reinvigorate his career could be appealing.
