Mike Tannenbaum has quite the resume and could be the front runner for the position. Tannenbaum acquired fame when he was a star on HBO’s Hard Knocks as general manager of the New York Jets back in 2010. Mostly, it showed Tannenbaum trying to get a new deal with star cornerback Darrelle Revis completed, something that eventually happened.

Tannenbaum ran the Jets as general manager from 2006-2012, a tenure that had ample success. Tannenbaum notably drafted Revis and brought in a litany of high-profile players throughout his time, including Antonio Cromartie, Santonio Holmes and Brett Favre. Tannenbaum also hired Eric Mangini and then Rex Ryan, who led the team to consecutive AFC Championship games in 2009 and 2010.

Tannenbaum now works as the executive vice president of football operations for the Miami Dolphins. He has been with Miami for the last two years and things have been stagnant, including an 8-8 record last year and a 3-4 start to 2015. Tannenbaum would still be a nice get for Detroit, which could really use a steady hand with some experience behind him.
