Los Angeles Dodgers

The Royals have openly admitted that they have virtually no chance of re-signing Johnny Cueto. That’s fine because Cueto helped them win their first World Series since 1985. The price that they paid for him was hefty, but it’s hard to say that it isn’t worth it right now. If Cueto would like to get paid and still be able to wear a gorgeous shade of blue while still remaining in the United States, the Dodgers would likely be more than happy to give him the opportunity to do so.

The Dodgers will be looking for a replacement for Greinke if he decides to sign elsewhere. Cueto is most likely their next best option. As I mentioned earlier, Cueto tends to allow a high number of flyballs. That strategy would likely work well at Dodgers Stadium. Would it be an issue in, say, Colorado? Sure. But the Dodgers can easily work around that by not letting him start when the Dodgers visit the Rockies.

The Dodgers definitely have the money to get Cueto if they can’t re-sign Greinke. I wouldn’t rule the Dodgers out on Cueto even if they do re-sign Greinke. Clayton Kershaw, Greinke, and Johnny Cueto would be a nightmare for any team to have to face in the playoffs.

The Dodgers will probably be able to give Johnny Cueto the most money and they offer him the opportunity to pitch in a ballpark that Cueto is tailor-made to have success in.
