Blues forward David Backes has created a rallying cry for his team with #RoarBacon. He brought a pig to the locker room to showcase it and failed badly.

The St. Louis Blues are off to an impressive 9-3-1 start this season, good for second place in the Central Division. They are doing this despite having multiple players injured. A big reason for that? David Backes. Recently, the Blues inadvertently created a rallying cry started by creating #RoarBacon. It was a simple mistake made in an Instagram post.

Instead of deleting the post, the Blues have decided to rally around it and make it their rallying cry. David Backes got into the spirit of things by bringing a big into the Blues locker room. The pig’s name? Piggy Smalls. So what made Backes want to bring a pig into the locker room?

"“I’ve met Mr. Piggy Smalls before, and I figured with #RoarBacon, it was time to bring him out and have a mascot for this phenomenon of auto-correct,” Backes said. – St. Louis Today"

Backes explains how the #RoarBacon craze got started.

"“It wasn’t until I got home after the game, a couple of my buddies were trying to get me to work (#RoarBacon) into an interview,” Backes said. “I was like, ‘How am I going to get that in an interview?’ He said, ‘Oh, you didn’t see?’ All of the sudden I’m seeing it on the news and my wife and I are just shaking our heads.”"

While the pig was in the locker room, David Backes decided to bring the pig into his head coach’s office. Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock was surprisingly cool with it. Until the pig decided to do its business in his office.

"“It did it’s thing in our office,” Hitchcock said. “It was a message from the players. It left a great message in all corners of the coaches’ office. It was very clear and had a great aroma.”"

David Backes apparently wanted to that himself. Or at least he thinks some of his teammates would.

"“He got to poop in the coaches’ office, which a few of us on occasion may like that opportunity, too,” Backes said."

The Blues play the Nashville Predators in Nashville on Saturday in an important division matchup. Let’s see if the Blues can #RoarBacon.
