Justin Upton will be one of the most coveted free agents available due to his power and production. Here are five potential landing spots for the slugger.

Outfielder Justin Upton will be entering free agency for the first time in his career this off-season. He is one of the better outfielders in baseball and is arguably the most productive outfielder in free agency this year. However, he will likely not get the money that Jason Heyward will get because Heyward is much better defensively than Upton and Heyward is at worst an above average hitter.

He will likely get more money than Alex Gordon because Upton is 28-years-old while Gordon will turn 32 in February. He will likely get more years than Cespedes because Cespedes is 30-years-old. Two years means a lot when teams are deciding which outfielder they’d like to sign.

Justin Upton has been a bit of a disappointment at times. He was expected to be a superstar player, but outside of 2009 and 2011, he hasn’t fully reached his potential. He’s still a very good player, but you can’t help but feel that Upton has yet to live up to the promise of being a number one overall pick. He has a career OPS of .815. That’s not outstanding, but it does put him among the best outfielders in baseball.

Justin Upton has a ton of talent and it seems like he still has yet to realize his full potential. That’s going to be intriguing enough for teams that he won’t have a problem finding suitors. Teams that lose out on Heyward are likely going to make a push to get Upton.

He’ll have a qualifying offer attached to him, which could make Cespedes (who won’t have one) a more attractive option to some teams. Here are five teams that should be more than happy to surrender a first round pick to sign Justin Upton.
