Brian Orakpo ejected vs. Saints
By Josh Hill
The Tennessee Titans showed more fight on Sunday than they have all season long — except it was Brian Orakpo fighting and getting ejected.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen an NFL player kicked out of a game, but that streak came to a grinding halt on Sunday thanks to Brian Orakpo.
In the fourth quarter of the Titans game against the Saints, Orakpo objected to a call against Tennessee and flipped out on the officials. It wasn’t the penalty that was initially called that lead to the ejection, it was Orakpo losing his mind afterwords that got him booted.
This isn’t something that NFL officials will stand for. While Orakpo didn’t make contact with the official — which is an instant ejection — but he mouthed off in a pretty aggressive way. That’s kind of the same thing in the minds of officials, as there has been a crack down on the way players and official verbally interact on the field.
Clearly Orakpo violated the sanctity of whatever rules players and officials live by on the field during games, as an ejection isn’t something to take lightly. Orakpo will probably fill us in more on this after the game but right now this is just a mess of a situation for a Titans team that has already come unglued as they fly off the rails.
