What’s that you say? Stomping a mud hole in the No. 2 team in the nation only moves the Crimson Tide up two spots. Putting a snare around prohibitive Heisman Trophy favorite Leonard Fournette was only worth the No. 2 ranking, say whaaaaaat? Them’s the breaks, kiddos.

Once again, Nick Saban has done a remarkable job keeping his team focused. After a gut-wrenching loss like the one the tide suffered to Ole Miss, lesser teams would have folded. The locker room would have collapsed inward from the weight of failed expectations (just look at nearly every SEC West team, for an example). Yet Saban continues to push forward and make all the right corrections.

Alabama has all the makings of a championship team. Strong, athletic defense. Power running game and a quarterback who can minimize mistakes. Sounds a lot like the early AJ McCarron days, no?

Spinning forward, Alabama will travel to Starkville to take on an underwhelming Mississippi State team next week. Following that it’s the cupcake Charleston Southern and then the Iron Bowl on November 28.

The Crimson Tide have a legitimate claim at the No. 1 position, but when the reigning No. 1 exorcises a demon and remains undefeated, it’s second for now.
