Kenny Britt burns Vikings to make nice 55-yard grab
The Rams finally got something going in Minnesota with a 55-yard bomb to Kenny Britt
The St. Louis Rams got hit in the mouth early in Sunday’s game as their offense looked stagnant and their defense was getting gashed against the Minnesota Vikings. As always seems to be the case in the NFL, though, it only took one big offensive play from St. Louis to get the momentum going in their favor and have them right back in the game, courtesy of Kenny Britt.
Always a threat to throw the deep ball in this Rams offense, Nick Foles dropped back and uncorked a long throw downfield in the direction of Kenny Britt. Britt turned on the jets a bit to create a little separation and then hauled in a nice grab through a defender apparently bringing him down with horse-collar.
The penalty wasn’t called on that play, but Britt definitely seemed to be brought down by the neck of his shoulder pads. In the end, that only makes his 55-yard catch all the more impressive that he held on through that kind of contact.
That certainly got the Rams going a bit as they scored two plays later thanks to the services of their superstar rookie running back Todd Gurley. If guys like Britt can step up in this Rams offense with other weapons like Gurley and Tavon Austin on the field and with their stellar defense, they could legitimately transform into a dark horse in the NFC going forward.
