Todd Gurley ruled out of bounds because of his hair (Video)

Todd Gurley was ruled out of bounds because of his hair — no, seriously.
The NFL has long had interesting rules about how hair factors into whether or not a player can be tackled in the field of play. But for the first time we’ve encountered a situation where a player was ruled out of bounds because his hair left the field of play.
That was the case for St. Louis Rams rookie Todd Gurley, who was ruled out of bounds because of his hair — no, seriously he was. The play occurred on Sunday in Minnesota when Gurley’s hair was out of bounds but none of his body was, meaning he was out of bounds.
According to Mike Pereira from FOX Sports, Gurley was indeed out of bounds.
It seems arbitrary, but it also makes a ton of sense. If a player can be tackled by his hair, then surely he can rule out of bounds if his hair leaves the field of play while still attached to his body.
We probably won’t see this the of play happened often, but it’s something that was bound to happen.
Also, prepare yourself for all the god awful ‘Gurley out of bounds by a hair’ pun that your lame uncle is going to make.
