Brandon Bolden-RB-New England Patriots (0.2%)

New England running backs are always tricky, but we’ve seen this year that they can also be extremely productive.  The Patriots’ backfield is set for another shakeup after Dion Lewis’s season-ending injury. While LeGarrette Blount will take most of the early-down work, there is plenty of work for someone to step into the receiving back role. The two options who will get a chance to step up are Brandon Bolden and James White.

I think Bolden will ultimately get more work than White since he’s a more trusted option who has been in New England for three full seasons. Bolden was the one who got more work in week 9 when James White was a healthy scratch.  Bolden got into the end zone on his three catches for 27 yards and also added 12 yards on his only carry.  It’s hard to say for sure since Coach Belichick always has a surprise or two up the sleeves of his hoodie, but Bolden should at least get a shot at earning some more work going forward.

Bolden is a high-upside pickup, but he’s a risky play short-term until the roles are more defined.  Both Bolden and White are worth stashes in most formats and could offer nice flex upside as they divide Lewis’ workload in the wake of his crushing injury.
