30. Kinnick Stadium (Iowa)

Hosting its first Iowa Hawkeyes home football game in 1929, Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa, is one of the more iconic fields in the Big Ten. Named after the only Heisman winner in school history, Niles Kinnick who won in 1939, the stadium was renovated in 2004, upgrading nearly every little aspect of a venue you could think of.

From the seating arrangements, to increased concession stands and bathrooms to new press boxes, scoreboards and sound systems, the new version of Kinnick Stadium was second to none for a short time. The entire renovation process cost the university nearly $100 million and it definitely paid off.

One of the toughest places to play in the Big Ten happens to be in Iowa City and Kinnick Stadium holds a daunting task for opposing teams, especially during primetime games.

As one of the largest stadiums in college football, holding about 70,000 fans, Kinnick Stadium is one place you would want to visit as an outsider just to see the passion radiated into the atmosphere on fall Saturdays.

Known for its pink visitor’s locker rooms, former head coach Hayden Fry had this feature added to psych out opposing players while making them stare at pink walls and lockers before and during games.

Being a fan of the Big Ten, this is one of the stadiums I have yet to travel to and will need to in the near future.
