50 best college football stadiums
19. Jordan-Hare Stadium (Auburn)
Auburn’s home field, Jordan-Hare Stadium, is ranked the 10th-largest college football field in the country with a capacity of 87,450 as of 2015.
Opened in 1939, the original stadium held just about 15,000 fans, but has since expanded about 14 times in order to fit the current amount of which is approaching a tenth of a million seats.
Home-field advantage is a real thing in the SEC, especially as many stadiums are quite like Jordan-Hare in the way they make opposing teams uncomfortable with how loud and hostile it can get.
With one of the more successful college football programs in one of the largest stadiums with the biggest scoreboard in the nation, you can only imagine how boisterous the crowd can really get.
Unfortunately, the 2015 season hasn’t gone as planned, but the fans remain faithful and the stadium is always packed.
A unique feature of Jordan-Hare happens to be outside the walls on Toomer’s Corner where fans of the Tigers leave the stadium after a win and toilet paper the famous trees there. Although the old trees died because of a poisoning incident, new oaks were planted and the tradition lives on.
