50 best college football stadiums
43. Ross-Ade Stadium (Purdue)
Like a couple of other teams on this list, Ross-Ade Stadium is much nicer than the product on the field of play. The Purdue Boilermakers have been absolutely atrocious football-wise over the past few years and third-year head coach Darrell Hazell is doing everything he can to help this program climb out of the Big Ten’s basement.
Many Purdue fans may feel like their stadium is constantly under construction, but that’s ultimately a positive sign as the 90-year-old venue is undergoing a series of renovations that will make Ross-Ade one of the best places to watch football in the conference.
Unfortunately, the experience has been much more positive for the guests of the field – aka the opposing fans – as the Boilermakers have squandered any hope of giving Ross-Ade a solid home-field advantage.
The Boilermakers haven’t made a bowl game since 2012 and haven’t won a postseason game since the 2011 season. Heck, Purdue fans haven’t seen their team finish in the AP Top 25 poll since 2003. Hazell needs to work his magic fast because this loyal fan base is putting up with far too many mediocre seasons.
The non-football aspect is great, though, as this is one of the few stadiums in which you can actually purchase alcohol.
West Lafayette, Ind., is one of the best towns to take in a football game in the Big Ten.
