St. Louis Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals have been a baseball talent factory for years. Whenever they lose someone to free agency, retirement, injuries, etc., they find a way to make up for it. It usually comes from the pool of talent they have in the minor leagues. Credit a great scouting department for that.

Last year, the Cardinals lost first baseman Matt Adams for most of the year due to a hip injury. In turn, the position became a rotation, with Stephen Piscotty, Brandon Moss and Mark Reynolds all receiving time.

Hip injuries can become chronic, and since that could happen, along with Adams not being the league’s greatest first baseman, the Cardinals could speak to the Braves about acquiring Freddie Freeman.

As noted, the Cardinals have a ton of talent in their farm system. They can package multiple solid prospects like pitcher Luke Weaver, pitcher Jack Flaherty, maybe Tommy Pham, among others. Adams could be added in if Atlanta wants to take a chance on him. Pham had a run in the majors this season and showed some power and an ability to get on base in limited time. This was due to the Cardinals having a loaded outfield, possibly making him expendable.

St. Louis would be an intriguing option for Freeman, and if traded for, he would bring a great presence to a lineup that’s already stacked.
