Young was an excellent bargain free agent pickup for the New York Yankees this season, putting together his most productive season in years for just $2.5 million. With all of the strong outfielders in this free agent class, Young is again being overlooked and should be a nice platoon bat for someone again in 2016.

Just four years ago, Young was coming off a pair of 4 WAR seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but he quickly fell of that. Young was able to resurrect his career with the Yankees in September of 2014, and went on to put up a 109 wRC+ in 109 games this season according to FanGraphs.

While nobody is expecting Young to return to his prime form, this season proves he still has some value. Young showed some power with 14 home runs in 356 plate appearences, and still walks enough to get on base at a decent clip.

If a team can manage to use Young strictly as a platoon bat, he will be a nice bargain in free agency. Young posted a 162 wRC+ against left-handed pitching this season per FanGraphs, continuing a trend of mashing lefties for his career.

Depending on how the market shapes up elsewhere, the Tigers may need a right-handed platoon bat for left field, making Young a perfect fit.
