4. New York Yankees

Anytime that there’s a big free agent on the market, you almost have to throw the New York Yankees into the conversation by default. They’re a team that built a dynasty using deep pockets and they are a team that’s still liable to make the same types of moves in attempt to put together another dynasty. However, they’re also a team that could severely use the services of Cespedes regardless of that.

The names in the Yankees outfield are certainly recognizable with the likes of Brett Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury standing in the grass at new Yankee Stadium. However, the Yankees outfield—and the team as a whole, really—is in dire need of an influx of youth. While Cespedes is 30 years old, that’s younger than any player currently in the Yankees outfield. He might not be a top-level prospect that could anchor the outfield for the next decade, but he could bring more life to New York than would be there otherwise.

Also not unrelated to the Yankees and Cespedes is the fact that the Cuban outfielder has absolutely mashed over his career when playing in New York. In 15 career games in new Yankee Stadium, Cespedes has hit .295 with a .922 OPS to go along with four home runs, three doubles, a triple, and nine RBI. In addition to everything else, you can’t say that the Yankees wouldn’t be pleased to add a player who can tear it up like that at the home ballpark.
