Denver Broncos (+1) over Chicago Bears

I believe in the Denver defense.

It isn’t fun to take Brock Osweiler on the road, and frankly, I would not do so if the Broncos were laying any candy here. As an underdog, though, Denver has the better defense (by a wide margin) and there is a real scenario in which Osweiler constitutes an upgrade over the recent performance of Peyton Manning.

To sweeten things a bit, the Bears are generating more than 60% of the action in their direction, and Chicago is a team that is vulnerable against an elite defense that Denver happens to possess. It may be ugly, but in an ugly game, I want the best defense in the league on my side.

San Francisco 49ers (+13) over Seattle Seahawks

One week ago, we gave out two double-digit underdogs, and both won outright. I don’t expect that particular trend to continue with the 49ers, but we’re going back to the well in a rivalry spot.

Bookmakers (and the public) simply haven’t caught on to the fact that Seattle isn’t as good as they were supposed to be, and not even the presence of Blaine Gabbert can scare me away. To be honest, this is a “system” play more than anything, but the Niners were more than feisty in toppling the Atlanta Falcons two weeks ago, and this defense has played well at times this season.

This line keeps growing, and you might want to wait for maximum value, but at 13, I have to give out the 49ers.
