Charcandrick West-Kanas City Chiefs

West wasn’t drafted in fantasy football at the beginning of the year just like he wasn’t drafted coming out of Abilene Christian two years ago.  Last year he hung on the practice squad, but the Chiefs turned to him this season when Jamaal Charles went down with a knee injury leaving a gaping hole in the backfield.

Everyone ran to the wavier wire to grab West who had a disappointing first week on the job against the Vikings in week six.  Hopefully if you added West, you didn’t give up on him, though, since he has been lights out since.  He has 100 total yards and a touchdown in each of his last three games which have all resulted in Kansas City wins.  He ran for 110 yards and had a touchdown in week seven against the Steelers followed by 97 yards rushing and 25 yards receiving in London against the Lions.  After a bye, West faced a touch matchup with the Broncos, but he still stepped up last week with 69 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries and added 92 yards and a second touchdown on his three catches.

This week, the Chiefs take on the Chargers who are one of the worst teams in the NFL against fantasy RB.  West should be set up for a field day, and I see him as a top-5 back for today given his recent run of success. For reasons I still don’t quite understand, on DraftKings West is way down the salary list at just 4,500.  Maybe its because they can’t fit Charcandrick in and just call him C. West, but whatever the reason he’s definitely someone to target in your DraftKings lineup. West is much more expensive on FanDuel (7,100), but he’s still outside the top ten which makes him very capable of outperforming his salary slot.  In season-long leagues, West has been added in almost all leagues, but there are still 8% of ESPN leagues where he’s still on the waiver wire.  Especially with such a tasty matchup, West should deliver his fourth straight huge week today.
