2. Houston Rockets (5-9)

The Houston Rockets went from playing the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals to a 5-9 team that had to fire its head coach because of a toxic locker room. People legitimately thought that the 2015-16 Houston Rockets could win an NBA Championship. Now, they’ll be lucky to get the eighth-seed in the ultra-competitive Western Conference.

It seems like the two superstars that Houston has in shooting guard James Harden and center Dwight Howard aren’t the leaders the team needs to contend for an NBA Championship. Players have called out Harden for his aloofness and Howard for his often agonizing demeanor.

While Kevin McHale wasn’t the best coach in the NBA, perhaps it is general manager Daryl Morey’s analytical pragmatism that didn’t account for the intangible qualities of a champion, like leadership, teamwork, and tenacity.

Houston carries on with their new head coach J.B. Bickerstaff. Thought the players on the Houston Rockets seem to gravitate towards Bickerstaff, he needs to figure out a way to improve the Rocket’s 25th rated offense (101.1) and 26th rated defense (108.1) if Houston even wants to sniff at the postseason.
