Dallas Mavericks vs San Antonio Spurs

Another year, another opportunity for people to forget just how good the San Antonio Spurs really are and how big of a threat to the NBA title they truly will be. With Golden State undefeated at the moment, it’s hard for any team in the league to steal headlines.

The Dallas Mavericks aren’t too far behind, though. With the addition of a somewhat resurgent Deron Williams over the offseason, the Mavericks are sitting in third place in the Western Conference through the first month of play. Despite the mess with DeAndre Jordan reportedly agreeing to a deal and then backing out, Dallas is looking as solid as any team.

Easing Chandler Parsons back into the rotation, as well as JaVale McGee, will do nothing but help the Mavs, especially with Dirk Nowitzki playing at such a high level. The big German sharpshooter is averaging a team-high 18.0 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting over 50 percent from three-point range.

The Spurs’ big free agent signing over the summer was LaMarcus Aldridge who has been dealing with a nagging injury that has kept him out for the past two games. Although Tim Duncan is no longer a dominant force, Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard are both taking over this team as leaders and the Spurs won’t be fading into irrelevance any time soon.
