The Minnesota Vikings are currently in control of the NFC North, but the Green Bay Packers are still the team to beat until the Vikings say otherwise.
The Minnesota Vikings have lived up to their preseason status as playoff contenders, but they have experienced success that has surprised even some of their own fans. They currently have an 8-3 record and lead the NFC North by one game over the Green Bay Packers.
Running back Adrian Peterson is still on track to win the rushing title, as he leads the NFL with 1,164 rushing yards while adding eight touchdowns to his campaign. He may even emerge as a serious MVP candidate if the Vikings can continue their winning ways. However, the Vikings do not have the NFC North title wrapped up just yet.
The playoffs are a near certainty for the Vikings, but a wild-card spot is still a realistic possibility. The Packers’ poor recent play has given the Vikings the opportunity to take the lead in the NFC North, but the Packers are still the favorites to win the division. The Vikings have already lost once to the Packers, and they have a Week 17 matchup coming up against them in Green Bay.
The Vikings are no slouch and have performed well this season, but an NFC North title will not be in the cards for them. Here are five reasons why the Packers should be expected to secure their fifth consecutive NFC North title instead of surrendering it to the Vikings.
