The New York Giants were playing the Washington Redskins with sole possession of first place on the line. A Giants win would’ve given them a two-game lead in a poor NFC East, but instead they slid under .500 and are tied with the Redskins atop the standings now.

The Giants found themselves down in a 17-0 hole at halftime after the Redskins had a big second quarter, which included a 60-yard touchdown reception from DeSean Jackson.

It didn’t help that Eli Manning threw three interceptions and nearly fumbled a couple of times as well.

Despite being in a 20-0 hole in the fourth quarter, Manning mustered up some come back magic and threatened to win the game late. A 40-yard touchdown reception by Rueben Randle got the Giants on the board and then Odell Beckham Jr made another incredible one-handed catch to narrow the lead to 20-14.

The Giants couldn’t complete the comeback, however.

Next week the Giants play a tough Jets team at MetLife Stadium, followed by the Carolina Panthers and the Minnesota Vikings. The Panthers are of course undefeated and the best team in the NFC and the Vikings are atop the NFC North division at the moment.

The Giants could be poised for a rough late-season collapse.
