Chip Kelly

Chip Kelly has proven that he is a phenomenal college football coach. He’s great at recruiting and he’s proven he can consistently win and have his team in the national title conversation. That doesn’t mean that he’s cut out to be an NFL head coach. Much like Nick Saban with the Dolphins and Steve Spurrier with the Washington Redskins, Chip Kelly has proven during his time as the Eagles head coach that he just isn’t cut out for the NFL.

Things have reached the breaking point with the Philadelphia Eagles. Kelly’s critics were vocal about his tendency to trade and cut productive veterans for no apparent reason. They also hated how he was given so much control over the roster despite having no experience as an NFL head coach before arriving in Philly. Kelly was able to hold them off during his first two seasons with the Eagles by winning. Now that the Eagles have stopped winning, Kelly can’t defend the questionable decisions that he has made in the NFL.

Imagine if the Eagles had Desean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. Those are just two of the productive players that Kelly decided to let walk. Kelly’s future with the Eagles was always going to be decided by how the Sam Bradford trade worked out. It hasn’t worked out at all for either party. It’s time for Kelly to leave the NFL and go back to coaching college football. That’s what Kelly loves to do and what he does best.
