DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy hockey lineup- December 4
High Salary G
Tuukka Rask-Boston Bruins ($7,600): There isn’t much difference in salary between the starting goaltenders. However, of the two-highest tonight, the best play has to be Boston’s Tuukka Rask. He’s lost just once in four games-an overtime loss to Edmonton on Wednesday night in which he stopped 34 of 36 shots. Though losing to Edmonton was a bad loss, don’t let that scare you away. Rask gets the benefit of playing behind a good defense and an offensive that can be explosive at any moment. Throw in the fact that Calgary is one of the lowest-scoring teams in the league, and Rask is worth paying for tonight.
Roberto Luongo ($7,800): Luongo is the most expensive goalie on the board tonight, and if he plays, he’d be worth the money in a game against a bad Columbus team. He’s currently riding a four-game win streak after stopping 32 shots versus Nashville last night. However, at his age, there’s a good chance he takes a seat tonight. Check closer to puck drop to get a definite on Luongo’s status.
High Value G
Cory Schneider-New Jersey Devils ($7,200): Again, there isn’t much difference in price between the regular starting goalies. For my money tonight, I’m looking for value at goalie. Rather than pay for the likes of Rask, I like a cheaper Cory Schneider against the Flyers. Schneider got the night off last night in Carolina, so he’ll be well-rested for Philadelphia, a game that’s in New Jersey’s barn. The Flyers have struggled to score goals all season, making Schneider the play of the night in net.
Martin Jones-San Jose Sharks ($7,100): Much like Schneider, Martin Jones is a great play in net tonight. Since DraftKings only uses one goalie, you’ll have to make a choice. Their prices are nearly identical, so you’ll just have to analyze the numbers. I love Jones so far this season, especially tonight, but Schneider’s matchup at home against Philly is too good to pass up. If you do go the Jones route, it should be a good decision. The only concerning thing about Jones is that he’s given up four goals in two of his last three games, but those were both against Pittsburgh and Chicago. Anaheim presents an easier test for the young netminder tonight.
