Top 5 NFL quarterbacks available this offseason

Matt Hasselbeck
Matt Hasselbeck has only appeared in a few games this year for the Indianapolis Colts, but he’s played great in the games that he has shown up in. Hasselbeck has always had a completion percentage above 60%, and thrown for at least two touchdowns in all but one game so far this season. Additionally, there hasn’t been a game that he’s played in where he threw less than 200 yards.
It also helps Hasselbeck’s case that the Colts have won every single game that he’s appeared in.
His numbers aren’t Pro Bowl level by any means, but they’re consistent, and for some teams, that’s all they really need to get started.
The biggest question with Matt is obviously his age. If he were to stick around for another year, he would be entering his eighteenth year in the league, which is much longer than most expect quarterbacks to play in the NFL. The source for his longevity has likely been the fact that he’s been a backup for the past several years, as the last time Hasselbeck was a regular starter was for the Tennessee Titans in 2012.
Bringing on Hasselbeck would bring up some questions that need to be asked. Can his body handle being a starter in the NFL? Does he also need a solid backup in case he’s at risk of injury? And of course, one does wonder if he may decide to retire with his contract coming to an end at the completion of this season.
