DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy hockey lineup- December 5
High Salary C
John Tavares-New York Islanders ($8,000): Tavares is the most expensive option on the board today at center. He’s got a high price tag but has been worth it all season. He has 22 points on the year and while he’s coming off a mediocre night on Friday in which he recorded just two shots, Tavares should be trusted in lineups today. He has a decent matchup against Ottawa, as the Senators are allowing almost three goals each time out. Tavares has points in six of his last eight contests and looks to be a safe bet in your lineup for Saturday.
Evgeni Malkin-Pittsburgh Penguins ($7,500): Malkin will be on the ice in one of the early games and gets a chance to continue his hot streak. The Russian has points in six of his last seven games and scored at least one goal in each of his last four games, including a two-goal performance against Edmonton last weekend. Malkin is facing a tough test against Jonathan Quick and the Kings, but he’s too talented to leave on the bench.
High Value C
Tomas Plekanec-Montreal Canadians ($5,900): With some of the top centers facing difficult matchups today, it would be wise to take a chance on a center that won’t cost as much. Tomas Plekanec has a cost below $6,000 but provides value much greater than that. He’s racked up 25 points this season and registered an assist his last time out on Thursday. Plekanec and his teammates face off against Carolina on Saturday. The Hurricanes have not been good on defense this year and give up an average of there goals a game. Plekanec looks like a great play today.
Claude Giroux-Philadelphia Flyers ($6,600): Giroux has a salary that’s almost too high to be considered a value pick, but it’s still a lot lower than the big name centers on the board for today. He had a big game last night with a goal, an assist, and four shots on goal. He now has points in five of his last six games and today faces a Columbus defense that hasn’t been very good all season. Last night he racked up seven fantasy points and could do the same tonight.
Dylan Larkin-Detroit Red Wings ($5,200): Detroit’s impressive rookie continues to excel this season and can provide excellent fantasy value to those looking to save some money yet steal some value at the center position. He already has 10 goals this season, and though he hasn’t scored in two games, he’s shown the ability to get hot and score in bunches. He faces a bit of a difficult game tonight at home against Nashville because the Predators are always a tough team defensively. However, due to his still relatively low price tag, Larkin is a fantasy asset that needs to be in tonight’s lineup.
