DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy hockey lineup- December 5
High Salary G
Braden Holtby-Washington Capitals ($8,000): Holtby deserves a fantasy start almost every time that he’s on the ice. The team playing in front of him is loaded with talent, both on offense and defense, and he himself has the skills that have quickly made him one of the top netminders in the league. He’s playing in the first game today and draws a great matchup against the Winnipeg Jets, a team that he just beat last week. You’ll have to pay, but be confident in your pick of Holtby as he looks to extend his win streak to seven games.
Jake Allen- St. Louis Blues ($7,600): The St. Louis Blues are really good, and that’s great news for whoever they have in goal. Tonight that guy will be Jake Allen. He struggled on Tuesday against the Panthers, but does have 11 wins on the season with a save percentage of .926 and a GAA of 2.1. Tonight the Blues face off with a Toronto squad that struggles to score goals. The Maple Leafs are ranked 27th in the league, scoring just over two goals a game. Allen’s price is one of the higher ones, but he makes for a good play tonight.
High Value G
Steve Mason-Philadelphia Flyers ($6,900): The Philadelphia Flyers are a hard team to trust in fantasy hockey, especially at the goalie position. Though they have two decent options to turn to in net, the Flyers struggle to score and don’t provide much support for the guys between the pipes. With that being said, Steve Mason could actually be a sneaky pick in net tonight. He had the night off Friday to rest and should be the goalie to play against the struggling Columbus Blue Jackets. Mason is currently riding a two-game winning streak and has a great chance to make it three tonight. Take him as your goalie and free up some cap space to use in other places.
Jaroslav Halak-New York Islanders ($7,200): Halak was given the night off on Friday and should be well-rested for his matchup with the Ottawa Senators tonight. Halak was masterful the last time he was on the ice, making 33 saves and leading the Islanders to a shootout win over the New York Rangers. He gets the Senators tonight, and while they are fifth in the league in goals per game, Halak has a solid defense in front of him and an offense that’s been able to put up goals when needed this season. He could be a low-owned, sneaky play tonight.
