High Salary D

Erik Karlsson-Ottawa Senators ($7,400): For Sunday’s slate of games, Erik Karlsson is the most expensive defenseman available, and for good reason. He now has 32 total points in 26 games and just scored a goal and added two assists Saturday, giving him 20 points over his last 12 games. He’s hot and should be played every night until he cools off. There’s a lot of value lurking at the other positions tonight so go ahead and spend on Karlsson.

Dustin Byfuglien-Winnipeg Jets ($6,500): Just like Saturday, Byfuglien is again listed as a target among the high salary blueliners. He recorded an assist and three shots on goal in yesterday’s game and continues to reward fantasy owners with not only his ability to put up points, but to also block shots and fire at the net. He will be going against his former team in Chicago today and will look to keep his five-game point streak going.

High Value D

Rasmus Ristolainen-Buffalo Sabres ($5,000): The Buffalo Sabres have a bright future with some very good young talent. One of those guys is Rasmus Ristolainen, a young defenseman that’s enjoying a very productive season. As far as fantasy goes he still has a reasonable price and can give you value in your lineup tonight. He’s not going to score a bunch of goals, but does have 14 assists on the year, including six in his last five games. Tonight he gets a favorable matchup with Edmonton. With both teams struggling to stop opposing offenses, there could be a lot of offense to be had and Ristolainen could be one of the beneficiaries.

Andrej Sekera-Edmonton Oilers ($3,300): As mentioned, the Buffalo versus Edmonton game could be a source of great value as you build your lineup tonight. Veteran defenseman Andrej Sekera started his career in Buffalo back in 2006 and tonight get’s to face his old team. He has 11 points this season and can get you an assist or two tonight for a very cheap price. Taking a chance with Sekera will free up money for you to spend at other positions.

Keith Yandle- New York Rangers ($4,700): It was just a few years back that Keith Yandle was one of the top defensemen in fantasy hockey as a member of the Coyotes. However, injuries plagued his season in 2014, his first as a member of the Rangers. Now healthy, Yandle has started to show that he can once again be a source of fantasy production. He’s got 12 assists and one goal this season and tonight faces Ottawa. The Senators are 29th in fantasy points allowed against opposing defensemen and Yandle has a great chance to put up good numbers at a good price.
