4. Broncos Offensive Issues

As previously mentioned, Kansas City need Denver to lose their way down the stretch. One issue that Denver have had to cope with all season long is on offense. Future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning has not looked like himself at all, Demaryius Thomas has struggled to get open and has struggled with drops, and the less said about the offensive line the better.

Head coach Gary Kubiak wants to establish a dominant running game. However, his running backs don’t exactly instill confidence in even the most optimistic of supporters and the aforementioned offensive line is playing poorly and is now heavily banged up. Free agent signing Evan Mathis has played well below his expected level, and tackle Ryan Harris is nothing short of disastrous.

Perhaps more significantly, however, is the current quarterback crisis. Since Brock Osweiler has come in, the offense has looked much more efficient now they have committed to Gary Kubiak’s version of the West Coast offense. However, hanging your hopes on the shoulders of a quarterback who has started two games is not something many would be comfortable with. With Manning set to return at some point later in the year, it will be interesting to see which direction Kubiak chooses to go in. Whichever way he goes, the Denver offense will still have issues and that will cost them a game or two down the stretch.
