5. Chiefs’ Light Schedule

For Kansas City to win the AFC West they will need to run the table. It is good news, then, that not one team in their remaining schedule is above .500. Such a light schedule offers Kansas City a truly irresistible opportunity to add to their five game winning streak and pressurize the Broncos’ results.

The Chiefs’ toughest game is this Sunday when they travel to face the Oakland Raiders. If they come through unscathed, which is expected, they then face the Chargers, Browns and Ravens in consecutive matches. That is a stretch better than any in the NFL. They then host the Oakland Raiders in Week 17, and if the AFC West is up for grabs with the Raiders likely out of play off contention, there is no way in hell that they lose that game.

In fact, it would be surprising if the Chiefs lost another game between now and the end of the season, and when a team gets on a running streak, oftentimes results elsewhere fall in to place. Kansas City is relying on a favor from other sides. However, the easy schedule that they face will allow them to stockpile wins, putting the squeeze on Denver’s results. Such intense scrutiny can lead to a losing streak, and the Chiefs will be waiting to take advantage. The AFC West is far from over, and Kansas City is most definitely in the race.
