1. Their remaining schedule favors them

The Houston Texans have a great schedule to end the season, with three of the five games against AFC South opponents. The only games outside of their division are their next two games, on the road against the Buffalo Bills (5-6) and at home with the New England Patriots (10-1).

Following those games they have a three-week divisional gauntlet where they travel to Indianapolis (6-5) and then Tennessee (2-9). To finish the year, they host the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-7).

The Texans have only two winning teams left to face, and also handled Jacksonville and Tennessee rather easily in their earlier contests with them.

They also have good fortune to play the Patriots while most of the team is trying to fight back from injuries, and they may not have their biggest weapon in tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Indy may also be without their star in quarterback Andrew Luck, but that was also the case earlier in the year when Houston lost to the Colts by a touchdown. This time, though, things feel different for Houston as it would be a perfect time to get their first ever win in Indianapolis, on their way to sole possession of first place.
