DraftKings daily fantasy hockey picks: December 8 lineup
High Salary C
Tyler Seguin-Dallas Stars ($8,700): Seguin is the most expensive center on the board tonight. There is value to be had at other positions tonight, so taking Sequin won’t be a bad play. Sure, it will cost you, but a matchup with Carolina is too good to pass up. The Hurricanes have given up an average of three goals a game and tonight should be no exception. The Stars are a high-scoring team and Sequin is a big reason why. He has 35 points through 27 games and has a great chance to add to that number.
Joe Pavelski-San Jose Sharks ($7,600): Pavelski is a talented center on a talented team and has been one of the top fantasy producers this season with an average of 4.4 fantasy points per game. His opponent tonight, the Calgary Flames, are ranked dead last in the league, giving up nearly four goals a game. Pavelski is considered a high salary center tonight, but the price isn’t as high as some and you’ll definitely enjoy the production. Feel confident in rolling with Pavelski tonight.
John Tavares-New York Islanders ($7,900): Tavares is $800 cheaper than Sequin tonight and that makes him a great play among the high salary centers. He hasn’t registered a point in two games but has 22 total points on the year. He’s one of the most talented centers in the entire league and gets a very favorable matchup against a Flyers team that is ranked 20th in the league in goals allowed per game. If you want great production but don’t want to pay over $8,000, take Tavares.
High Value C
Frans Nielsen-New York Islanders ($5,100): Nielsen has been a nice surprise for fantasy owners this season. He doesn’t have a lot of flash but has quietly become one of the best offensive weapons for the Islanders. He’s got 19 points in 28 games and though he’s gone pointless in the last three games he draws a good matchup with Philadelphia tonight. Nielsen is a good value pick with a great chance to bring solid production.
Jason Spezza-Dallas Stars ($5,800): Spezza is a streaky player who plays on the best offensive team in the league. The Stars seem to be able to score at will on a nightly basis and Spezza has the opportunity to take advantage of that. He draws a favorable matchup tonight, as the Carolina Hurricanes have struggled to stop opposing offenses. Spezza has seven points in his last 10 games and will look to keep it going tonight. He offers good value on a night where you’ll want to have some money to spend on some big name players.
Anze Kopitar-Los Angeles Kings (5,100): Just a few years back Kopitar was a top fantasy producer at the center position. He doesn’t put up the same production anymore but is still a solid play at a value price. Kopitar has five points in his last four games and a contest tonight in Columbus presents a great opportunity to take his point streak to five game. The Blue Jackets are ranked 23rd in goals allowed.
