High Salary W

Alexander Ovechkin-Washington Capitals ($9,100): Ovechkin is always a target for fantasy teams when he plays. Of course he will cost you a ton with a salary of $9,100, but Ovechkin’s value can’t be ignored. He’s actually third tonight in average fantasy points by wingers with 5.1. That, coupled with his high price, might steer some people in another direction, meaning that low ownership is a possibility. Ovechkin was held without a point against Winnipeg on Saturday, but has picked up points in six of his last eight games. He’s playing in an important game at home against Detroit and will certainly be up to the challenge.

Patrick Kane-Chicago Blackhawks ($8,800): Kane is another winger who needs to be considered for your fantasy lineup each time he takes the ice. He leads the NHL in both points (42) and assists (26) and is riding an amazing 22-point streak. If you are going to spend on a high-priced winger tonight, Kane would be a great choice. He’s cheaper than Alexander Ovechkin and has shown no signs of cooling down.

Alexander Steen-St. Louis Blues  ($6,700): Steen is priced way below the other high-priced wingers and he rivals them in production. Steen is averaging 3.7 fantasy points a game. Though he doesn’t score a lot of goals, he plays on a very talented St. Louis line and loves to dish out assists to Vladamir Taraseko. A favorable matchup with Arizona tonight makes Steen a great play.

High Value W

Lee Stempniak-New Jersey Devils ($3,900 ): Stempniak has been a popular value winger this season. He’s been a great surprise for the Devils and has rewarded fantasy players who have selected him. The New Jersey winger still has a fantastic price and has registered points in three straight games heading into tonight. A matchup with Toronto bodes well for Stempniak. He needs to be in your lineup.

Justin Williams-Washington Capitals ($4,800): Williams is a member of the high-scoring Washington Capitals. That should be enough to justify his fantasy value. The Capitals are loaded with talent and Williams has been a great addition to the team. He’s scored 17 points so far this year and though he’s gone two games without a goal, he can be trusted tonight. His price is good, so take him and save some money at the winger position.

Joel Ward-San Jose Sharks ($4,700): Ward is enjoying a breakout season in San Jose. He already has 21 points in 26 games and is well on his way to setting a new career high in points. He recently had a five-game points streak snapped, but scored a goal on Saturday and will look to continue the production tonight. The matchup with Calgary is a great one for an offensive player. Take Ward tonight and be rewarded with his value.
